April Changes

For the last several years, April has proven to be a time of large changes for me.

Four years ago today I made one of the biggest changes of my life. I picked up and moved from Southern California to San Francisco. I left a job, and said goodbye to my strong network of friends and family and moved to SF, where I had two good friends, one potential friend, and zero family members. I moved on faith, and due to the promise of a grand adventure -- a good friend was starting a new company and wanted me to be involved.

Two years ago today I met J for the first time. He was a very unexpected addition to an already full life, and one that I gladly welcomed. From the beginning, there was a security in being around him that I cherish to this day.

Two years ago this month, I left the aforementioned job and struck out on my own to start my own company. As with the change of moving, I somehow summoned the "brave Jen", took a deep breath and just went for it. For the most part, I feel that this was one of the best changes of my life.

All three of these major changes have pushed me to grow and be challenged in a way that most things in my life have not. All of them have really helped to make me the person that I am today. Challenges that have occurred due to these specific decisions are the reason that today I hold my head a little higher, that I am able to stand up for myself, and that I have more confidence in my words and actions.

With this pattern of large April changes, I can't help but wonder what is in store for me this month ...
