A number of Bay Area catering companies will take part in the national Eat Local Challenge Sept. 29, pledging to only serve foods from within a 150-mile radius. Organized by Bon Appetit Management Co., 200 chefs and food services in 26 states are serving lunch made entirely of local ingredients. (Some are going one better: all meals). The cafes at the de Young and Legion of Honor museums, Acme Chophouse restaurant, as well as the cafeterias of Google, eBay and the University of San Francisco, are among the Bay Area participants.
