Last week, Sam asked us to post everything that we consumed during the week. I decided to take the challenge, in the spirit of seeing what food bloggers *really* eat. I vowed not to set up my photos, and also decided not to shoot everything I drank.
I wouldn't say that this was a normal week. I was gone all but Monday and Tuesday -- spending time in Southern California, and also in the Central California Coast where some friends live. During a typical week, I'd say I eat more vegetables and more local food. I would be curious to try this out during a more typical week.
Taking photos of everything was a bit of a chore, as I normally don't like to take food photos in restaurants, and I tend to set up food photos when I take a picture of them. However, it was interesting to see the photos and see what I actually consumed during the week.
I managed to take photos of everything with two exceptions that I know of: the pumpkin pie I ate on Thanksgiving Day, and a turkey quesadilla on Friday evening.
Here's what I ate:
Monday. Crab Louis and clam chowder (Swan Oyster Depot), almonds, brussels sprout salad (Coco 500), fried green beans (Coco 500), truffled flatbread (Coco 500), sauteed chard (Coco 500).
Tuesday. Toast with almond butter and peach conserve, leftover spaghetti and meatballs that my diningmate ate at Coco 500 the night before, a handful of almonds, tortilla with chicken, avocado and cheese (a staple of the family household), salad with avocado.
Wednesday. Rockenwagner cheese stick with bacon, pecans from the Santa Monica Farmers' Market, triscuits with cheese, a homemade Reuben sandwich with leftover corned beef, rye and sauerkraut, asparagus and root vegetables (taste testing dishes for Thanksgiving day).
Thursday. Eggs Florentine with sauce on the side, deep fried turkey & chips, roasted turkey, olives, candied yams, root vegetables, asparagus, green beans, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, homemade pickles, salad, and gravy, pumpkin pie (not shown).
Friday. Leftover candied yams cold with a bit of milk -- my favorite after-Thanksgiving treat.. Steamed potatoes, a piece of chocolate, cashews, Sour Patch Kids, and tacos from Tito's Tacos in Los Angeles. Turkey quesadilla (not shown).
Saturday. Pork Oaxaceno tamale from the Templeton Farmers' Market, a piece of brownie, chips and tacos from a great taco stand in Morro Bay (Chapala).
Sunday. Turkey bagel sandwich, corn and flax seed chips, Sour Patch Kids, cheese sticks, grandma's cheese enchiladas and broccoli.
