The best part about eating local in Southern California?  Two words: local mangoes.  Normally at this point, I would have a lovely picture to show you, but I have managed to inhale each and every one before I could take a photo.

Mmmmmmm, mangoes! Where are you getting them?

At the farmers' market. They are from the north shore of the Salton Sea, so like 150 miles from here. I've gotta go get more.

excuse my jealous outburst. I've been fantasizing about making tuna poke studded with perfumed mango and lofted to my mouth with toasted sesame crackers.

sigh

I was at a Malibu nursery yesterday and they had all sorts of subtropical fruit trees. I said to the owner, 'Mangoes grow here?" He said, "Yes, and bananas, gauvas, papayas and ....." Almost made me want to move back to SoCal.

Oh, man, that sounds so good. I haven't had a mango in over a year...
