lists for my life

I have a not-very-environmentally-friendly habit of using these lovely stock cards to make lists for my life. I guess that the eco-friendly part is that I usually start one and then fill every square inch with notes before I start another. I had the urge to take a shot of the list I started today and show it to you all because it's a great example of the disparity of my life right now. Half of those notes are for my day job, while another half are for my writing, blogging or Eat Local Challenge passions. I'm usually totally fine with the chaos, but it's a little hard to wrap my brain around these days.
It's 10 p.m., and I still have several things left on that list. So I'll just leave you with a list of things I'm loving right now.
- Bar Crudo which I finally went to for the first time this weekend. I can't believe it took me this long to get there. I took my friend who was in from the Central Coast and it immediately became her favorite SF restaurant.
- The amazing bloggers who are taking the Eat Local Challenge. They are unbelievably inspiring.
- This episode of This American Life. If you've ever wondered what the last days of a grassroots political campaign are like, listen to this. It's brilliant.
- Massa Organics new almond butter. Delicious.
- iTunes Genius which is helping me remember corners of my iTunes library I'd forgotten about.
- The dim sum vendor at the Marin Farmers Market, which almost had me driving the 15 miles just to have more this Sunday.
- The really comfortable and competent Bar Drake at the Sir Francis Drake downtown.
- Boccalone's pancetta. Tasty salted pig parts of the best kind.
What's new on your list of things you love?

My list now includes my pasta roller & cutter and my ice cream machine. I learned how to use these so I could still have some of my greatest loves during the Eat Local Challenge, and now I don't see how I ever lived without them.
Oh, and butternut squash, which I could eat for every meal.

Although your exposé of the fact that the damn things are made with butter did dampen my spirits a bit, I'm loving the Primavera tamales -- quick, satisfying goodness. Or crack. Depending on how you look at it.
Also loving Zinnia, even after only one visit, and even if that's because I can get my favorite cocktail (off-menu) in the world there.
And I'm loving-loving-loving the Jimmy's Cracked Corn by Ridgecut Gristmills, which I discovered at the Grand Lake Farmer's Market and haven't eaten nearly enough of during the ELC month. It's amazing, stuff, though, and will remain a staple in my fridge long after this month is over.

Jen, I am also a list maker, cannot get by without one. I am not quite as organized as you, however, my lists go on whatever piece of paper is handy. On my desk right now is a list of kids coming to my daughter's Feast (1st grader dinner party), a list of moms who are going to the next FriDAY Flicks, a list of ideas for the Green Team at school, and a random piece of paper from a blog piece I was working on. I guess I can recycle that one!
My current favorites?
- Sauteed local and organic chard with farro, drizzled with olive oil
- my two kids :-)
- only 24 days until my favorite holiday
- and, it is finally pumpkin pie season

Your blog is super. So are your photographies. They make me hungry. I have spent a nice moment when seeing them. Thanks a lot.
